Literary Theory & Criticism

A Literary Theory & Criticism Teacher takes you through the major schools of criticism — formalism and New Criticism, structuralism and deconstruction, reader-response, psychoanalytic, Marxist and New Historicist criticism, feminist, queer, critical race and postcolonial theory, and newer fields — by teaching you to use each one as a question you ask of a text. They guide dense readings, coach theory papers, and build review and exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

Shakespeare

A Shakespeare Teacher takes you through Shakespeare's theater and texts, blank verse and rhetoric, the comedies, histories, tragedies and romances, the sonnets, and the plays in criticism and performance — by teaching you to read the lines aloud and ask who is speaking to whom, and why. They guide hard passages, coach close-reading papers, and build review and exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

British Literature Survey

A British Literature Survey Teacher takes you from Beowulf and Chaucer through the Renaissance, Donne and Milton, the eighteenth-century novel and satire, the Romantics, the Victorians, modernism and writing since 1945 — by teaching you to read each work closely and ask what earlier writing it answers. They gloss older language, coach close-reading papers, and build review and exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

American Literature Survey

An American Literature Survey Teacher takes you through American writing from colonial and early national texts through Romanticism, the slave narratives, Whitman and Dickinson, realism, modernism, the Harlem Renaissance and postwar literature — by teaching you to read closely and place each work in its moment. They help with readings, literary terms and essay drafts, and build passage drills and exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

Advanced Composition & Rhetoric

An Advanced Composition & Rhetoric Teacher takes you beyond first-year writing — the rhetorical situation, ethos, pathos and logos, rhetorical analysis, classical, Toulmin and Rogerian argument, research synthesis, style and revision — by treating every sentence as a choice made for an audience. They give feedback on drafts by priority, explain rhetorical concepts and build practice and deadline plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.
