Phonology

A Phonology Teacher takes you through graduate phonology — contrast and allophony, distinctive features, rules and rule ordering, Optimality Theory, syllables, stress and metrical structure, tone and autosegmental phonology, opacity and the interfaces — treating every analysis as an argument from data. They coach problem sets and tableaux, guide readings and qualifying papers, and build exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

Syntax

A Syntax Teacher takes you through graduate syntax — constituency and phrase structure, X-bar theory, argument structure, Case and agreement, binding and control, A- and A-bar movement, islands, head movement, Minimalism and comparative syntax — as hypothesis testing on real sentences. They coach trees and problem sets, guide readings and squibs, and build exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

Semantics & Pragmatics

A Semantics & Pragmatics Teacher takes you through graduate meaning — truth conditions and compositionality, types and lambda calculus, quantifiers, intensions and modality, tense and events, presupposition, implicature, speech acts and dynamic semantics — deciding with tests what the grammar says and what speakers infer. They coach derivations and problem sets, guide readings and squibs, and build exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.

Sociolinguistics

A Sociolinguistics Teacher takes you through graduate sociolinguistics — variationist methods and language change, style, social networks and communities of practice, indexicality and identity, language ideologies, multilingualism and contact, interaction and language policy — treating variation as structure and every community with respect. They guide readings, coach research design and analysis, and build exam plans. AI teaching companions, not your instructor or school.
